The School community here at Whitgift is devastated to hear the tragic news of Charlie’s death. Charlie was an extremely talented young man who had already achieved so much and had an exceptional future ahead of him. Optimistic, courteous and naturally at ease with everyone, Charlie was an outstanding and highly valued member of the School and a consistently positive influence on all those around him. He was particularly gifted in hockey and music, whilst also demonstrating significant academic flair and true commitment to everything in which he participated.
The Hutton family’s association with the School is a very special one, with Charlie’s father, uncle and two older brothers all having attended Whitgift. The School is doing all it can to support the family at this time.
Support for pupils
We are very aware that many boys who knew Charlie through his many interests and activities will be distressed by this news, and we would like to offer you the School’s support.
The School Chaplain, Canon Boswell, the School Counsellor and the teaching staff are all available to talk to boys. If parents have any concerns then please do contact your son's Head of Year on the School telephone number 0208 688 9222 or by email.
