12-year old Ross Lloyd, a Year 8 pupil at Whitgift School, has achieved a highly coveted understudy role at the English National Opera (ENO).  Auditions are fiercely competitive, with a lot to gain in terms of experience and exposure to the industry.

The Wimbledon boy had previously appeared in the Surrey Opera production of Albert Herring, by Benjamin Britten, in September at the Barn Theatre in Oxted. Oliver Tims’ review in Opera magazine commented that the Surrey Opera's strong cast “excelled” and that Ross’s performance was “delightful”.

No doubt the young treble will gain a lot from his ENO understudy and will grow as a performer.
