The golfers at Whitgift School have notched up another triumph this year, reaching the HMC Foursomes Final after beating Brighton College 3-0 at Royal Ashdown Forest Golf Club. This victory, at the South East of England Final, will mean that the Whitgift team of Tom Bloxsome, George Mullins (pictured), Joe Carmody-Firth, James Beck, Harvey Byers and Chuck Adolphy will play the national final at Burnham Berrow Golf Club in July. Four of the aforementioned team are also due to be jetting off to Sun City, South Africa, where they will play in the International Schools Golf Association tournament.
Furthermore, Whitgift reached the national final of the Independent Schools Golf Association tournament at Carnoustie in April. It was their first national team final and they achieved a credible sixth place. Whitgift’s Head of Golf, Neil Kendrick, is full of praise: 'We now have a large number of very talented golfers at the School and this performance proves we can keep up with the best school-golfers in the country. This has much to do with Whitgift’s unique, ‘golf-for-all’ scheme, whereby all boys entering the School aged 10 and 11 are given 6 hours of free tuition on site in our Academy facility.'
