Now in his first year at the Royal College of Music, former Whitgift student Grig Cuciuc excited and enthused the audience with a varied recital alongside Russian pianist, Diana Galakhova.

He gave an elegant, and nicely understated, performance of Schubert’s Sonatina in G minor, with a purity of sound and beautifully turned phrases. The Wieniawski Polonaise Brillante gave him the opportunity to take centre stage, with a rendition which showed complete mastery of the violin, brilliance in command of the bow, and a sheer sense of enjoyment of the music. The recital was rounded off with the Franck Sonata, giving both performers the chance to convey a subtle, sensuous tone and French charm combined with passion and excitement. An evening of true pleasure.
