Section Française Toulouse Trip 2017
As is the tradition with Whitgift’s Section Française, pupils get the opportunity for exposure to the French culture in the form of cultural trips. In the past, there have been trips to Paris, Brussels, Nantes, Poitiers and Lille, to name a few.
During the 2017 summer holidays, 20 boys from the Upper First to the Lower Fifth Forms took part in the annual Section Française trip to Toulouse, nicknamed la Ville Rose (the Pink City) due to the colour of the local stone. The students greatly enjoyed the vibrant city, famous for its architectural history, gastronomy and unique industries.
Over four busy days, the boys took part in: a guided tour of the Airbus aeronautical factory; a bicycle ride through the historical city centre; a presentation on the history of Toulouse rugby, at the Ernest-Wallon Stadium; and interactive workshops and exhibitions at the Cité de l’Espace space museum.
Before jetting off back home, the boys explored more of the city, completing an historical quiz, and enjoyed some free time.
