Independent Schools Ski Championships 2015
This year’s Independent Schools Ski Championships were without doubt our most successful yet. Although the snow conditions in Deux Alpes, in December, were far from perfect, the team arrived in high spirits, hoping to build on the success of 2014. After four days of intensive training, the racing began and immediately it was clear that the team had reached a new level, in terms of technique and commitment. Over the two days of racing, the team won 17 medals across all of the age groups which was a fantastic achievement.
A special mention must go to both the senior boys who won the team Giant Slalom and to Josh Daws who won the junior boys Giant Slalom. The junior boys also retained their title in the parallel slalom event, which, as always, proved to be a highlight with an excellent atmosphere on the mountain. The standard of ski racing has continued to improve at Whitgift, and the department hope to expand the racing programme available to even further.
