Co-Curricular: Silver (15+ years old)
Updated: Tue 12 Feb 2013
The next stage of the award is available to boys in Year 10 and involves similar activities but of longer duration. The emphasis shifts towards even greater independence and several boys are asked to use the skills that they have acquired in order to help Bronze groups with their award. There are 50 places available on the Silver award and weekly sessions are held by leaders to prepare the boys for their expeditions.
In order to gain experience in wilder areas of the UK, both the practice and qualifying expeditions take place much further afield with recent trips to the Lake District and Exmoor National Parks.
