The Physical Education/Games Curriculum is designed to be varied, purposeful and enjoyable providing each and every pupil with a sense of achievement and a positive attitude towards post school recreation.

The department aims to develop skills, identify talent and vigorously promote it. Excellence, when and where appropriate is pursued.

The School aims to facilitate academic opportunities to provide students with a depth of knowledge and an interest for those who seek a career in sport or pursue sporting studies as an end in itself.

Whitgift offers over 30 different sports with excellent facilities and coaching of the highest standard. Saturdays often see over 30 teams representing the School in various sports.

The School has a national reputation for the quality of its sporting achievement with teams regularly amongst the best in Britain. As well as participating in many regional and national competitions Whitgift has enjoyed major success most recently in the U15 Daily Mail National Final at Twickenham and in the U13 England Schools Cricket Association National Final at Headingley.

The House programme, sports clubs, Whitgift Summer School of Sport, Colours system, sports tours all provide further scope for boys to fulfil their individual and collective sporting potential.
