The boys were put through their paces during various daily sessions which included grass net practice, both bowling and batting, as well as strength, running, speed and agility work. The squad also made good use of the new cricket ground at Desert Springs, focusing on specific sessions involving throw downs, slip catch training and fielding exercises as well as match simulations.
Upper Third Form pupil, Oscar Girling, commented, “The resort had exceptional facilities and groundsmen who work round the clock; the cricket grounds were some of the best pitches we will play on all year. We all got into a familiar pattern of heading down to the pitches after breakfast, where a whole day of intense training and competitive T20 matches took place. There was a very high standard of cricket.
“The Desert Springs cricket tour was an amazing experience and great pre-season practice. A massive thank you to all the coaches and staff at Desert Springs and Whitgift - especially having to deal with 70 teenage boys without WiFi for a week. Mayhem!”
