Whitgift Fifth Form student, Daniel Martin, was awarded third place in the national finals of the TDI Challenge, for his bike-storage device. The competition focuses on technology, design and innovation and is hosted by The Manufacturing Technologies Association (MTA), celebrating students’ creativity within the curriculum.
Daniel has also been awarded an Arkwright Engineering Scholarship this year. This scheme is aimed at inspiring and nurturing students to be the country’s future leaders of the Engineering profession and entails a rigorous selection process.
Daniel continued his development in the field at the start of the summer, carrying out work experience at BMW. Here he was testing prototypes in the Acoustic Engineering department, under the supervision of a fellow Old Whitgiftian. These are fantastic achievements for Daniel and offer valuable learning - we look forward to seeing how Daniel’s talents develop throughout the Sixth Form.
