Welcome to Admissions

Thank you for your interest in our inspirational school community.

Whitgift is a leading independent school for boys aged 10 to 18, with an innovative Junior Years curriculum, strong academic focus, broad co-curricular provision, offering compassionate pastoral care. Whitgift offers full and weekly boarding from the age of 13 (Year 9), and flexible boarding from the age of 11 (Year 7).

The Whitgift entrance examinations and process for this year has been modified to ensure the best and safest practice for all candidates. This letter from our Headmaster, Mr Chris Ramsey, outlines the changes,  along with this overview from the Head of Admissions, Mr Alistair Osborne.

Full details of this year’s entrance examinations are on the Key Dates & Exam Details document. All 11+ applicants will sit the ISEB Pre-Test, please refer to the Admissions Guide or ISEB website for further information.

The information in this section will help to guide you through the application process for your son. The Admissions Guide provides an overview of the admissions process for each entry point, and the Frequently Asked Questions  share responses to many of the questions asked by parents.

Application for entry at 10+, 11+,  13+ and Sixth Form in 2021, and Pre-Test entry into Third Form (Year 9) in 2023, are now closed.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, we are unable to welcome visitors onto the School site, however, we have several interactive ways that you can experience life at Whitgift online. Please visit Open Events  for further details.

Please contact our Admissions Team if we can be of any further assistance.

ISI Inspection REPORT

Whitgift felt the most ‘real’ of the independent schools I had seen and I was struck by the humility of the staff and boys I had met. It was welcoming from the get-go, warm, and I instantly thought my boys would thrive here if they were lucky enough to get a place.
