OW graduates from LSE with a First Class BSc

OW Pavan Rao (2009-16) graduates from The London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) with a First-Class BSc in Philosophy, Politics and Economics with a final year average of 73%. Pavan will go onto study a Masters in Economics at the University of Cambridge in September.

Pavan, who joined the School from Elmhurst, became interested in Social Science subjects during his GCSE’s and went on to study the International Baccalaureate, studying Economics at the higher level.

Pavan said; “I was offered plenty of support during the process. I am very grateful to Whitgift for the guidance I received, given I was able to discuss every aspect of my application with teachers at length. There was plenty of expertise on all the 3 subjects of PPE, university in general, and the application process in particular. I truly believe that my teachers at Whitgift helped me build the foundations for success in the application process very early on, always happy to give their time whenever I needed it, and always enthusiastic about their respective fields.”

Keen to maintain his relationship with the School, Pavan looks forward to attending alumni events and is particularly interested in exploring ways in which alumni can give back to Whitgift.

“I have joined Whitgift Connect and I think it is a fantastic initiative. It’s important for alumni to stay involved in the Whitgift Community and this is a great way to do so. I particularly like the fact that one can offer support/mentoring to others as well as seek opportunities to learn from fellow alumni.”

“I personally look for any opportunity to come back and talk to old teachers and see what is happening at the school, so more chances to do so would be fantastic.”
