OWs share Whitgift School Lapland expedition from 1957 with Abisko after BBC programme by Michael Portillo.
OWs John Kusel (1950 – 1958) and John Hewitt (1950 – 1958) shared a school trip report from 1957 with a research station in Abisko, Sweden after a BBC 2’s Great Continental Railway Journey’s.
Kusel and Hewitt attended a Whitgift School expedition to Lapland in 1957 with former teacher R.B Kennedy, who wrote a full report of the expedition with scientific appendices in the school library. The report included scientific data on plants, birds, fish, and geology which is of interest to scientists in Abisko as they investigate the effects of climate change, with 1957 data being of great value to them.
The OWs contacted the School’s archivist who shared the 48 page report electronically with Kusel who has forwarded a copy to the research station.
