A guest blog from Head of Upper Sixth Form, Mrs Bedford

It has certainly been a challenging few months for the Upper Sixth, since school closure and the cancellation of exams. They have all displayed incredible patience and resilience during an exceptionally demanding period in their lives. After finishing their respective courses, they completed a Pre-University Enrichment programme which provided them with an early insight into university study and the various requirements of their chosen undergraduate degrees. It was a great opportunity to engage with areas of higher order thinking and push beyond the traditional exam syllabi; I would like to congratulate them all on their fantastic contributions to these courses.

With so many celebratory events postponed, it was an absolute pleasure to organise a Virtual Graduation for the students to mark the end of their time here at Whitgift. Despite the bittersweet circumstances, it was wonderful to reminisce on all the impressive achievements of such an immensely talented year group. It was a pleasure to be able to hand deliver (minding Covid-19 guidance) a few leaver’s gifts (yearbook and Whitgift hoodies) to some of the more local students in person this week, do watch the short video we produced to capture their reactions! Everyone at Whitgift wishes this remarkable cohort the very best for their next steps and can’t wait to celebrate with them properly in the not too distant future. Congratulations!
