A Moving Adaptation of A Monster Calls

A Moving Adaptation of A Monster Calls

The Junior production of ‘A Monster Calls: The Play’ was brought to the PAC this February by a dedicated cast of young actors. Devised by The Company, the production retold Patrick Ness’ powerful story of a boy confronting the devastating loss of his mother, exploring themes of grief, truth and emotional honesty with striking depth.

Performed in a physical theatre style, the piece embraced a truly ensemble-driven approach. The full cast remained on stage throughout, using expressive movement, gesture and minimal props to create the many shifting worlds of the play. Characters, locations and moods transitioned seamlessly, showcasing the creativity, precision and commitment of the young cast.

The result was a visually compelling and emotionally resonant performance that highlighted the strength of ensemble storytelling. The performers handled the play’s challenging themes with remarkable maturity.

A heartfelt thank you goes to everyone involved, both onstage and behind the scenes. Their hard work, imagination and dedication made this production possible!
