The Whitgift Community Audiobook brought together nearly a hundred readers from across the community, and the local area, to perform Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's classic collection, The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes. Coming together to tell stories is one of the most vital and innate human instincts, an instinct that has been hampered over the past year. Who better to come to the rescue than Sherlock Holmes, one of our culture's most iconic characters?
From enthusiastic young performers of nine and ten years old, to wise and experienced readers of over eighty, this buccaneering selection of tales have been brought to life with energy and passion by everyone.
Director of Drama, Mr Hammond commented, “Although many of us might currently be apart, and we are prevented from gathering together to participate in performance, this Audiobook provides us with the opportunity to join in collective storytelling. We hope you enjoy it.”
The Audiobook is available to listen to on Soundcloud (please see below) and three stories from the collection have been released weekly. Classic stories include A Scandal in Bohemia and The Five Orange Pips.
The School would like to thank everyone involved in this Audiobook, including producers Mr Hammond and Miss Seal, our talented AV team and to Seyi (First Form), Nicholas (Third Form), Fraser (Fifth Form) and Teddy (Lower Sixth Form) for their help with the guidance videos.
