Hockey Treble Success for the U18 1st XI

Hockey Treble Success for the U18 1st XI

Continuing the momentum from last year's hockey success, Whitgift have had a record-breaking 2023-24 Hockey season.

Last season, the School won the U16 and U18 double, winning both the England Hockey Indoor and Outdoor National titles. Not to be surpassed this year, the U18 team made further history by winning U18 Indoor and Outdoor titles back-to-back, a feat never done before.

However, they had one more accolade to complete; the treble. The team also became the U19 Independent Schools Hockey National Champions, an unprecedented achievement in schoolboy hockey history.

Reflecting on this remarkable journey, Dr Stagno (Director of Hockey) remarked "The current Upper Sixth who are leaving all started at the School in First Form, most of whom had never played hockey before. They won the U13 National title and then had a forced absence due to COVID. Once we got back, the same students won U16 Indoor and Outdoor titles and U18s back-to-back Indoor and Outdoor titles. This team has been unbeaten for the last three years!"

However, success in Hockey extended beyond the U18s this season. The U16s became England Hockey Indoor Super6’s National Champions, while the U15s and U13s secured victories as Schools Indoor Hockey Champions. Additionally, the U13s claimed the title of Independent Schools Hockey Champions.

Congratulations to all teams on another successful year of Hockey.
