The House Music competition was a resounding success, with several standout performances making the adjudicator’s job particularly challenging.
Mr James Griffith (former Whitgift teacher and Housemaster and now Head of Music at Old Palace) had the difficult task of ranking the top four Houses. Cross’s claimed 1st place, followed by Mason’s in 2nd, Ellis’s in 3rd, and Smith’s in 4th. Mr Griffith praised all the performers for a truly wonderful evening, offering the highest praise to Cross’s for their exceptional performances.
He was particularly impressed by Michael’s accomplished rendition of Sonatina for Clarinet and Piano by Joseph, noting his bright tone and skillful contrasts of light and shade. The large ensemble’s performance of Everlong by the Foo Fighters also stood out, with Dylan’s impressive multitasking on bass and vocals and Michael’s outstanding drumming earning special recognition.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, with special appreciation to Mr Griffith, Mr Henderson (Director of Music), the Music department, the Housemasters, and the AV team — the unsung heroes of the night.
