Humanutopia workshop for First Form pupils

Humanutopia workshop for First Form pupils

On Thursday 10 October 2024, Humanutopia made its return for another year, hosting its annual personal-development workshop for First Form students. Timed to coincide with World Mental Health Day, the workshops content aligned with the themes of the day.

The workshop, titled 'Who am I?', was divided into three sessions designed to encourage deep self-reflection. The first session, known as the Comfort Zone, invited students to reflect on their past experiences and how these have contributed to shaping who they are today. In the Stretch Zone, students were encouraged to consider how making changes to their current behaviour could alter their present. Finally, the Panic Zone session provided students with the space to explore their aspirations, dreams, and future selves.

Third Form prefects also joined the event, having experienced the same workshop in the past. This allowed them to offer valuable guidance and answer any questions from the First Form students. Zebulon (First Form) commented “My favourite session of the day was part two because we were all in groups with Third Form prefects where we socialised and moved around through various activities as a group.”

Krish (Third Form Prefect) shared his thoughts, saying, “You’re very lucky in the First Form as you don’t have a fifth period, so you have more time for activities at lunch – I would encourage you all to make the most of this!”

When asked about what they would take away from the day, Will (First Form) said “How we should treat others with respect and kindness, as you don’t know what they may have gone through.”

The day was highly successful, with students actively participating in discussions about both their current identities and future aspirations. The workshop also fostered a sense of confidence and expanded social interactions among the students.
