Headmaster appointed to IBO advisory board

Headmaster of Whitgift, Mr Chris Ramsey, has been appointed to the Heads Council of the International Baccalaureate Organisation (IBO).

The Heads Council comprises 12 members who act together as an advisory group to the Director General. The group assists with a variety of issues that affect IB World Schools. Members are elected by IB World School heads, with four members from each IB region.

Mr Ramsey said of the appointment, “The IB has a very long tradition at Whitgift and we are seeing increasing numbers opting for it as a pathway through Sixth Form - particularly for those interested in pursuing international education paths. I am pleased to have been elected as part of the council and look forward to contributing to the work of the other regional representatives.”

Whitgift offers both the IB and A Level at Sixth Form and the course is becoming an increasingly popular pathway for those wishing to maintain a broad and international perspective. The qualification is widely recognised by leading higher education establishments worldwide.
