Jacob's Achievements at the European Youth Tour

Cycling race

Over the summer, Second Form student Jacob competed in the 58th European Youth Tour in Assen, a five-day stage race featuring road, circuit, and a time trial race. Jacob raced in a field of 70 riders from across the globe, including the Netherlands, France, Germany, Spain, Greece, the UK, Hong Kong, Canada, South Africa, the UAE, and Australia. Riders competed within their birth year group throughout the week to be victorious in the General Classification (yellow jersey), Points Classification (green jersey), and Special/Climbing Classification (polka dot jersey).

Jacob completed the time trial stage in 18 minutes and 3 seconds, with an impressive average speed of 39.9 km/h, despite challenging weather conditions, beating his field by 41 seconds! The 12 km course featured a short, sharp climb, a technical descent, 5 km of headwind, and several tight 90-degree corners. Jacob’s time would have placed him 8th in the category above and 55th (out of over 100 riders) in the U17 category, both of which used different gearing than he did.

On the final day, Jacob finished 35 seconds ahead overall in the General Classification, placed 3rd in the Points Classification, and won the Special Classification. He is the first cyclist from his club, VC Londres, to win the competition, and his Yellow jersey will be proudly displayed at Herne Hill Velodrome!

Jacob has achieved several notable results throughout 2025, including earning a Cyclocross National Medal, placing 8th out of 40 in the Road National Series, and finishing 10th in the Track National Series.
