Whitgift's innovative Open Event format wins an Independent School sector award

Press Release

South Croydon: Whitgift has been presented with an Admissions Impact Award at the AMCIS 2024 (Association for Admissions, Marketing and Communications in Independent Schools) event held earlier this month.

The judges commented “At a time when everyone is trying to differentiate themselves…the team’s reinvention of their traditional open day was a truly inventive move….Really well done!”

The award-winning concept was one that focused on a visitor-centred experience, with dedicated zones such as STEM, Languages and Performing Arts, clear directional signage and option of a personal tour by a Whitgift Ambassador. In addition, Prefects were positioned all around the School to offer support and assistance to those who wanted to tour the School without a guide.

Whitgift’s Director of Marketing and Communications Hina Ghumra said, “We were humbled to have been selected by the judges for an Impact Award, especially given the prestigious list of shortlisted schools. Our aim was to create an experience for visitors that allowed them to explore the School at their own pace and to take in the various departments and facilities they wanted to see. We look forward to building on our approach for the upcoming Autumn 2024 event.”

On 28 September 2024, the School will again open its doors to visitors, helping them discover more about the academic and co-curricular life of Whitgiftians, as well as being able to explore the inspiring onsite facilities. Visitors can also look forward to listening to the Headmaster’s talk and some exciting activities and displays within each zone.
