The first anniversary of 'upthegreatness'

Oluwani Akintunde (Old Whitgiftian) returned to Whitgift in December 2023 to facilitate a session with students he had previously mentored, commemorating the first anniversary of 'upthegreatness’.

Oluwani served as the OW Mentoring Lead at Whitgift throughout the 2022-23 academic year, where he played a pivotal role in inspiring students. His approach involved inviting accomplished alumni to share their post-Whitgift journeys with students.

To mark the one-year milestone, Oluwani brought along four other OWs— Alex Ezimora,  Joe Golding, Josh Jibulu, and Timi Oke. The event, held in the Old Library, adopted a carousel format, allowing students to engage with each guest for a few minutes.

Reflecting on the event, Oluwani remarked “I ended the event by explaining to my mentees the role they have played in the expansion of ‘upthegreatness’ as we are now visiting pupils across the country thanks to the impact they had. I explicated that the first seed was planted at the School and that these pupils represent the branches of the first "greatness tree"; a tree that is already successfully blossoming as we have the likes of OWs Sean Kerr and Tooni Adisa thriving since they graduated last year.”
