Power Up: The Autumn Concert’s Unforgettable Musical Quest

“Power Up” was the rallying call for this year’s Autumn Concert, and the event certainly lifted the spirits of the fully packed and sold-out Big School. The audience enjoyed classic arcade machines in the foyer and collected nachos and game-themed mocktails before settling down to a full musical programme of music from video games old and new.

Highlights included the Symphony Orchestra and Chamber Choir accompanying the whole Lower First Form in the soaring rendition of Sogno di Volare, the theme from Civilisation VI. The Big Band impressed once again, levelling up to play arrangements made for professional level. Fifth Former, Joe led the audience in an interactive demonstration of the published game Gold’s Dungeon, for which he wrote the score.

Contributions also came from Concert Band, Senior Strings, A Cappella, the Blue Shirt Boys and Whitgift Brass, all accompanied by outstanding lighting and projection effects in what was truly a night to remember.
