PRESS INFORMATION: Whitgift School announces closure of the Nuffield Health facility after a successful 11-year partnership
South Croydon: Nuffield Health will not be re-opening its Whitgift School site due to the increasing demand for use of the sports centre facilities by the School.
The Nuffield Health centre, which includes a swimming pool, gym and squash courts, has been affected by the prolonged closure due to COVID-19 and the increase in demand for use of the facility outside of normal school hours from the School’s community of over 1500 boys, in particular their boarders.
A School spokesperson stated ”The recent closure of the health club due to COVID-19 has given the School a chance to re-assess the facility and how it is best used to meets its aims. Despite the increased usage by the School, Whitgift will continue to support the local community, particularly children of our local primary school partners many of whom struggle to find suitable swimming venues.”
“Whitgift Fitness & Wellbeing Centre has been a long-standing and successful partnership. We would like to thank Nuffield Health for delivering a flagship enterprise for the School to such a high standard over the last 11 years and wish them, and the staff employed at the health club, well for the future.”
Nuffield Health will be communicating directly with existing members of the Whitgift Fitness & Wellbeing Centre to offer them access to alternative Nuffield Health locations.
