Whitgift students celebrate outstanding GCSE results

Congratulations to all our Year 11 students who received their GCSE results today, achieving an excellent set of outcomes that reflect the hard work, determination and ability of an exceptionally strong cohort. 

This year, 42% of all grades were awarded at the highest grade of 9, while 69% of grades were awarded at grades 8 or 9. In total, more than 1,500 grades were awarded at 8 or 9, with 88% of all grades achieved at grade 7 or above. 

These results represent an improvement on last year's strong performance and are a testament to the commitment, resilience and ambition shown by our students throughout their GCSE studies. 

While today's results are certainly cause for celebration, they represent only one aspect of a remarkable group of young people. Throughout their time at Whitgift, these students have contributed enormously to the wider life of the School, excelling not only in the classroom but also in sport, music, drama, leadership, charitable initiatives and service to the local community. Their achievements reflect a cohort that has embraced opportunities in every area of Whitgift life. 

We are equally grateful for the invaluable support provided by families and staff, whose encouragement, guidance and dedication have played an important role throughout the GCSE journey. 

Most students will now continue their Whitgift journey into the Sixth Form, where they will experience the exciting Whitgift 12 programme. Designed to complement academic study with broader intellectual, personal and practical development, Whitgift 12 will provide students with new opportunities to explore their interests, develop future-ready skills and prepare for life beyond school. 

As they begin this next chapter, we look forward to seeing the talent, energy and ambition of this exceptional year group continue to flourish, both within the Sixth Form and across the wider Whitgift community.

A note from the Headmaster to all GCSE students

We are delighted to celebrate the achievements of these exceptional young men. Their excellent GCSE results reflect their academic ability and commitment, as well as their determination to make the most of the remarkable breadth of opportunities available at Whitgift. 

Within this cohort are national sporting champions, outstanding musicians and actors, entrepreneurs, outdoor adventurers, and boys who have shown a deep commitment to service, community and social cohesion. Their success demonstrates that academic excellence and wholehearted engagement beyond the classroom are not competing pursuits, but complementary ones. 

In addition, these boys have embodied our values of curiosity, respect, ambition, courage and belonging, and have truly lived our vision to 'Become More'. We are immensely proud of all they have achieved and look forward with great excitement to seeing what they accomplish in the years ahead.
