Students progress to the second round of Singing Competition

Lent’s singing competition which has been gathering momentum throughout March, has provided Whitgift’s singers of all levels an opportunity to showcase their talents. Their video submissions, recorded at home during the lockdown, were judged by David Butt Philip, a world-famous tenor who has performed at the Royal Opera House (London) and the Metropolitan Opera (New York).

Graduate Music Assistant, Mr Soriano, who co-ordinated the competition commented, “Thank you and well done to all those who submitted an entry. I was extremely pleased with the quality of singing across the three classes. I appreciate recording yourself without live accompaniment is no mean feat, so it is a testament to our students and their versatility as performers  - which is essential.”
