The annual Founder’s Day service once again honoured the legacy of the School’s Founder, Archbishop John Whitgift.
Members of the Sixth Form and all staff wore a white flower - a symbolic gesture echoing reverence for the occasion.
The day commenced with a service at Whitgift Chapel, guided by the Chaplain, the Reverend Alan Bayes. Subsequently, the Lower Sixth Formers and staff congregated at Croydon Minster to partake in the annual Founder’s Day service. Alongside staff from across the John Whitgift Foundation, they were welcomed by the distinguished presence of Whitgift’s Corps of Drums.
The School’s Corps of Drums extended a warm invitation to the Old Whitgiftian Association Corps of Drums to join them in the parade for the second consecutive year. Dressed in their traditional scarlet attire, now proudly adorned with the Fusiliers badge, the School paraded alongside the Old Whitgiftians. They sported their timeless Queen’s Regiment blazers paired with their cherished old school Corps of Drums ties - a poignant homage to their enduring connection with Whitgift.
This annual gathering serves as a poignant reminder of the enduring legacy left by John Whitgift, and we remain deeply indebted to all those who contribute to its preservation and enhancement in the present day.
