On Friday 26 April 2024, the Annual General Inspection (AGI) for the Combined Cadet Force (CCF) of Whitgift and Old Palace of John Whitgift School took place.
The yearly event brings a Senior Officer to inspect the cadets' activities over the past academic year, and this year, Whitgift was delighted to welcome Brigadier Mike Cornwell OBE to observe the afternoon. The day commenced with the Guard of Honour and the rhythmic beats of the Corps of Drums. Each cadet received individual attention from Officer Cornwell, ensuring a thorough inspection.
Amidst a backdrop of camaraderie, cadets engaged in a varied programme of activities. From honing fieldcraft observation skills to testing survival skills, navigating obstacle courses, and experiencing the thrills of a flight simulator - the day was brimming with challenges and learning opportunities.
As the day progressed, a crescendo of action culminated in the dramatic display of a Platoon attack, followed by the performance of the Corps of Drums during the evocative beating retreat.
The successful AGI once again showed how dedicated and skilled the Whitgift and Old Palace CCF units are. Congratulations to all the students who participated.
