First Former Jacob’s journey to his first National Title is a testament to his dedication, resilience, and passion for cycling.
Stepping up to the under 14’s this year, Jacob faced a significant challenge within a highly competitive field. Competing in the British National Cyclo-cross series for the first time, he navigated five stages across the country. The Championship is the pinnacle of the season and saw Jacob, along with his two teammates from VC Londres, narrowly defeat the Shibden club from Yorkshire, securing the British Cycling National Under 14’s Cyclo-cross Team Championship. This victory is a culmination of a season filled with grit, determination, and countless hours of training.
This is Jacob’s inaugural year of eligibility for national titles and his season so far has been a rollercoaster of highs and lows, including a crash at the start of the year and a snapped seat post in the Championship race. Despite these challenges, Jacob has gained invaluable experience and emerged as part of the winning team.
The next chapter in his journey will be a shift to focus to the track and road seasons which will involve him traveling across the UK and Europe - with the exciting prospect of representing Whitgift at the Schools' competition at Herne Hill in March 2025.
Jacob's cycling journey began at the age of 7 with the London Dynamos. He later raced for the Hillingdon Slipstreamers before joining VC Londres in the summer of 2023. His love for cycling is fueled by the year-round opportunities it offers, with road and track racing in spring and summer, and Cyclo-cross in autumn and winter.
