Whitgift achieves double the National average for A*/A grades

Congratulations to all our Upper Sixth students who received their A Level results this morning, achieving an outstanding set of results that reflect both their academic excellence and their wider contribution to Whitgift life. 

Around one in four A Level grades were awarded at the highest grade of A*, while just under 60% of all grades were A*/A, double the National average. Individual achievements were equally impressive, with nearly 40% of students achieving at least one A* grade and 22% achieving at least two A* grades. 

The achievements of all our boys deserve recognition, particularly given how many have embraced the full breadth of opportunities available during their time in the Sixth Form. Alongside their academic success, they have made significant contributions through leadership, sport, music, drama, service, the CCF and countless other opportunities across the School community. 

Earlier this summer, Whitgift's International Baccalaureate students also celebrated exceptional success, with 98% securing their first or second university choice and the cohort achieving an average of 40.4 points, compared with a global average of around 30. An impressive 61% achieved 40 points or more, while 12% attained the maximum score of 45 points. Across the programme, 100% of Higher Level and Standard Level grades were awarded at Levels 7-5, equivalent to A*-B at A Level. 

Taken together, the achievements of the full Upper Sixth cohort of 209 boys are equally impressive. This year's leavers achieved 28.8% of all grades at A* or its IB Higher Level equivalent, exceeding last year's figure, with more than 62% of grades at A*/A equivalent and 88% at A*-B equivalent. 

As they prepare to begin the next stage of their journeys, with destinations including leading universities in the UK and overseas, we congratulate all our leavers on their achievements and wish them every success for the future. While they may be moving on from Whitgift, they will always remain valued members of the Whitgift community.

Congratulations to all our Upper Sixth boys on their outstanding results. These achievements reflect the hard work, determination and talent of a cohort of young men who have embraced not only academic study but every aspect of Whitgift life. We are proud to provide exceptional opportunities for our pupils and equally delighted to see them make the most of all that the School has to offer. This year's Sixth Form leavers have done exactly that. 

Their excellent academic performance, which builds on and surpasses last year's highest grades, is a testament to their commitment, resilience and ambition. Just as importantly, the character, values and sense of purpose they have developed during their time at Whitgift will equip them to make a positive and lasting contribution to society. We look forward to following their future successes and celebrating all they go on to achieve.
