Whitgift Army Cadets Excel at Lydd Camp

Whitgift Army Cadets Excel at Lydd Camp

At the beginning of July, Whitgift's Combined Cadet Force (CCF) took 28 Army Cadets to Lydd Camp for the Central Summer Camp, where they enjoyed a week of training.

Throughout the camp, cadets participated in a wide range of activities including training in built up areas (TIBUA), blank and live firing exercises, and a variety of adventurous activities such as water sports, climbing, mountain biking and archery. They also represented Whitgift in a series of competitions against contingents across London schools.

The week provided cadets, some as young as 14, with the opportunity to experience the breadth of activities available through the CCF while developing confidence, resilience, teamwork and leadership skills. Their efforts were reflected in an impressive set of results, with Whitgift achieving second place in the Military Escape Room, second place in Fieldcraft, and second place in Archery. In the shooting competition, Cadet Regimental Sergeant Major Freddie was named Best Shot, and Cadet Vasco achieved second place.

Whitgift's CCF continues to provide students with invaluable opportunities to develop personal qualities, leadership capabilities and life skills needed to become well rounded young adults. The success achieved at Summer Camp is a testament to the dedication of both the cadets and their senior leaders!
