Whitgift celebrates an outstanding ISI Report

We are delighted to share the publication of our full Independent Schools Inspectorate (ISI) report in full here, and the key highlights here. We are immensely proud of the recognition it gives to our pupils, staff, and wider community. 

Whitgift School underwent an inspection in April conducted by the Independent School Inspectorate (ISI). Nine inspectors visited the school from 1st April to 3rd April 2025. They were very impressed with all they saw. We were told that the positivity towards the school shown in the parent, staff and pupil questionnaires was wonderful to see and a real credit to the school community. The school met all the required standards, with no actions required.

Significant Strength

Among the many positive findings, a particular highlight is the rare accolade of a “significant strength” in our co-curricular programme, which offers an exceptional range of clubs and societies tailored to pupils’ individual needs.

This rare distinction, awarded to only 10% of schools, reflects our commitment to providing opportunities that inspire and empower every pupil.

The report also highlights the boys’ enthusiasm for learning, their readiness to immerse themselves in their studies, and their ability to persevere in the face of challenge. Pupils were described as highly articulate, respectful, and inclusive - qualities that shine through both in their academic work and in their relationships with others.

The report also highlights the school’s strong pastoral care, describing pupils as well-mannered, modest, and keen to uphold the standards and ethos of the school. Our boarding provision was commended for its welcoming and supportive ethos.

Finally, the report affirms the strength of our leadership and safeguarding practices, noting meticulous record-keeping and effective strategic planning.

We are proud of this recognition and grateful to everyone who contributes to making Whitgift such a special place to learn and grow.
