Opportunities

Whitgift offers a comprehensive array of facilities and opportunities for its boarders, encompassing a broad range of activities in academics, sport, music, drama, art, and more. Boarders enjoy access to these activities throughout their school day and during weekday evenings. Additionally, full boarders engage in a diverse range of weekend activities both through the School and Founder’s House’s Trips Programme.

Co-Curricular

Whitgift’s co-curricular programme is a key part of each pupil’s experience of the school. With over one hundred co-curricular clubs running before, during, and after-school, boarders will be able to, in the words of our School Captain, find ‘something, someone, or somewhere to belong’.

In addition to the ‘official’ programme, boarders can use the school’s sports hall and music school during the evening for free practice, communal games, and more.

Leadership Opportunities

Appointed annually, our committee of House Captains and Prefects have a huge say over what boarders do in Founder’s House over the course of the year. From start- and end-of-term meals to weekly Family competitions, they are key representatives of the House, role models to our younger boarders, and an important way by which the experience of boarding at Whitgift continues to evolve.

Boarders are also encouraged to make the most of leadership opportunities within the school. This can include leading a co-curricular club, becoming a School Prefect, or captaining a sport team.

Trips

Our extensive Sunday Trips Programme allows boarders to experience the educational, cultural, and entertainment options around London. From mini golf to museum visits, hiking to T20 cricket, these trips allow boarders to unwind, relax, and enjoy each other’s company.

All expenses for trips are included in the fees.

House Activities

Founder's House is more than a boarding house. It is where boarders try new things, share their journey, and form lifelong friendships. A robust programme of House activities, from bible study to House football to guest lectures, allow boarders to interact with their peers, grow socially and emotionally, and make the most out of their Whitgift experience.

"When our son joined Whitgift at Year 9 we didn't know what to expect. Five years later, we can honestly say that boarding has been life-changing for him. He would not have the maturity and drive he has now without the support from his friends and teachers at Founder's House. It has exceeded our expectations and been a very welcome surprise.Parents of a year 13 Full boarder
