Army Section

The Army Section is the largest part of the CCF with approximately 150 cadets from the Third Form to Upper Sixth Form.

The Army Section is proudly affiliated with the Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, offering cadets insights into the regiment's history and the prestigious red and white plume known as a ‘Hackle’. Cadet training focuses on fieldcraft, skill at arms, and infantry tactics, enhanced by field exercises and live firing on shooting ranges.

Throughout the year, cadets participate in two range days, two field exercises, and two week-long camps. These provide hands-on experience in field living, including shelter-building and overnight stays in wooded areas, alongside blank firing tactical exercises, all under the careful supervision of experienced adult instructors. Cadets return home from these experiences exhausted but with smiles and stories to share.

While most camps are held in UK army training centres, there are opportunities for overseas camps, such as in Germany. During these camps, cadets engage in activities like armoured vehicle driving with the 1st Battalion Royal Regiment of Fusiliers, JCB excavation with the Royal Engineers, and building clearance with the 1st Battalion Princess of Wales’s Royal Regiment.
