Corps of Drums Section

Established in 1905, the Corps of Drums holds the distinction of being one of Britain's oldest, primarily student-led organisation within the School. The Drum Major, a Sixth Former, leads training, oversees parades, and organises performances.

Open to students from the First Form to Upper Sixth Form, prior musical experience is not required as instruction is provided by senior members. Cadets wear striking red tunics and participate in various prestigious events, both within school and externally.

These events include 'Beating Retreat', a meticulously choreographed marching display which can be seen at the Annual General Inspection. Historically, the Corps has showcased its talents at notable events such as the Lord Mayor's Show and the British Military Tournament in Earls Court, where they performed in the presence of esteemed figures including HRH The Princess Royal, HRH Prince Andrew, and the late HM Queen Elizabeth II.
