Whitgift U14s clinched the National Rugby Championship with a hard-fought 15-14 victory over St Peter’s, York.
Whitgift’s 1st XI secured the England Hockey U18 Tier 1 National Championship, completing an impressive indoor and outdoor title double.
Following their success at the UK Padel Schools Championships, Whitgift’s U15 teams secured top honours at the inaugural UK Padel U15 Schools Championships.
From the snowy slopes of Italy to the vibrant cityscape of Dubai, Whitgift students embraced adventure, competition, and cultural discovery during February Half Term.
Sport plays an integral role in the education and wellbeing of Whitgiftians. We passionately believe that our Sport programmes are inclusive, providing every pupil with a sense of fulfilment and pride in their sporting accomplishments. Our ethos is focused on mass participation, providing a range of opportunities, and establishing appropriate structures to support the highest level of achievement possible for each student.
Whitgiftians, regardless of ability, participate in a wide range of both competitive and recreational co-curricular activities. There are over 40 available through the school week and at weekends, each with a tailored programme to advance and support high level performance. Over the last decade, Whitgift has won over 300 national titles across a range of sporting activities, earning the School a sector leading reputation for Sport. This culminated in being awarded Top school for Sport in 2020.
Over 90 Old Whitgiftians currently represent sporting clubs at the elite level, with many leading professional careers, including Jamal Musiala, Callum Hudson Odoi, Zach Wallace, Elliot Daly, Joseph Choong and Jason Roy. This success stems from a culture that wholeheartedly embraces inclusion, aspirational excellence and the wider value of Sport in a students' holistic development.
The Sports department is staffed with 32 colleagues who derive from an educational and professional sporting background. Their breadth and depth of experience provides a transformational environment, in which the needs of every student are met. Our sporting facilities are truly exceptional and are used by numerous international teams and professional clubs, further highlighting that Whitgift experiences offered through Whitgift are second to none.
Whitgift’s talented and dedicated coaching teams, outstanding facilities and tailored provision provide students with an inspirational environment in which they are challenged, embrace their sporting passions, and achieve beyond their expectations.
