Basketball - National Competition 2022

Basketball has become one of the fastest growing sports at Whitgift and we are extremely proud a large number of enthusiastic pupils across increase year by year. The Basketball programme aims to provide an opportunity for individuals to be part of a team and develop a passion for an exciting, fast-paced and physically demanding sport where teamwork is more important than individual ability.

Training is open to all students regardless of ability and takes place before school, lunchtime and after school, including both specific squad and open sessions. The extensive opportunities to play and inclusive nature of our provision ensures that all students can access Basketball at whatever level is appropriate to them.

The ever-increasing fixture card enables involvement in league, cup and friendly fixtures at a local, regional and national standard. The passion and commitment from both coaching team and the pupils have resulted in numerous titles in local leagues and cup competitions (LISBA – London Independent Schools Association) as well as reaching the final of the U19 national competition last season.

Old Whitgiftians Joshua Uduje and Myles Alcindor, have both represented Great Britain. An achievement we are very proud of!
