Jayden Wong - First Former

“Whether you’re part of a team, cheering in the stands, or participating in a local league, sports provide opportunities to connect with others who share your interests.”

Jayden immerses himself in the world of sport, participating in Swimming and Rugby at Whitgift. For him, the essence of sports lies in the connections it fosters, whether as part of a team cheering from the sidelines or competing in local competitions. He finds fulfilment in achieving personal bests and victories, although he admits that handling stress during competitions is challenging.

He receives constant support from his teachers and coaches, who encourage him to persevere through difficult training sessions – which ultimately helps to build is confidence. Beyond the physical benefits, Jayden recognises the broader impact of sports on his life, boosting his self-confidence, social skills, as well as creating new friendships.

Jayden has many notable achievements including Gold medals in the 50m and 100m Breaststroke at the Surrey County Championships 2024, six Gold medals at the Sutton Borough Championships 2023 and four qualification times for the South East London Summer Championship 2024. As well as an undefeated season playing Rugby for Whitgift’s U12B team.

Reflecting on his journey, Jayden emphasises the importance of confidence and perseverance in the face of challenges. While he excels in Swimming at the School, he continues to pursue his passion outside of Whitgift, representing Sutton & Cheam Swimming Club.
