Summer's Last Will and Testament

This event is now SOLD OUT

Summer’s Last Will and Testament is a rarely-performed play by Thomas Nashe. Commissioned by Whitgift’s founder, Archbishop John Whitgift, it was first performed in 1592, at Croydon’s Bishop’s Palace. The cast was composed, at least in part, of amateurs, including boys who served as pages in the Archbishop’s household, and may have been supplemented by experienced boy actors from the established London troupes, the Children of Paul’s or the Children of the Chapel. This is clearly a perfect choice of play for Whitgift, and Director, Mr Paul Wilson, intends to include a large number of younger performers. Highlights from the play, accompanied by music of the period, will be enhanced by the beautiful setting of the Founder’s Garden.

A cash bar will be in operation at this event.
