During the Upper School course (Ages 14-17), teenage students will find an inspiring and engaging learning environment, one that encourages students to take more responsibility for their English language development. Students are supported by our dedicated teachers who will look to develop their skills and confidence in English.

Our Intensive English programme for teenagers is one of the best English language courses in the UK that 14 - 17  year old students can attend.  Classes are small, with a maximum of 12 students, meaning there are lots of opportunities for speaking English to take place. At the end of every week, we send parents a detailed report of their son or daughter’s progress, with advice on what the student needs to do in the following week in order to improve. At the end of the course, all students receive an end of course report, which offers more advice for students on how to improve their English when they finish their course at Whitgift.

In the afternoons, students will have lessons with English-speaking boys and girls of the same age from John Whitgift Foundation Schools in our project-based course, Progressive Skills in Action.

Residential Course Information

My son’s stay at Whitgift has given him so much, in particular more self confidence! He is now even thinking about spending one semester/ two terms in the UK or Canada (which he wouldn‘t even have thought about before coming to Whitgift!). So thank you very much again for this wonderful Summer School, which I have already recommended to several friends.
