Meet our 2022 Telephone Campaign Callers
Eoin
Eoin Finn (OW 2014-21)
My name is Eoin and I'm a 2021 Whitgift leaver.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
I signed up to take part in the telephone campaign as I wanted to give back to a community that served me so well. As a recipient of a sports scholarship and a bursary, I am well aware of the life-changing opportunities Whitgift can offer. I loved working on the campaign last year, and I’m looking forward to reconnecting with more OWs and changing the lives of more students.
I think we can all agree that there is no other school like Whitgift. From its sporting endeavours, to its achievements on stage and in the classrooms, Whitgift allows boys, whatever their interests are, to realise their potential. The promotion of everyone’s interests, alongside our diverse school community, allows Whitgift to be a welcoming community and environment for everyone.
This campaign can offer an outstanding Whitgift experience, to boys who would not be able to attend our wonderful school due to their socio-economic status. This campaign is an attempt to remove this barrier for boys in our local borough, where such limitations are all too frequent. In addition, this campaign is inherently linked to the original ethos of the school when it was first founded by John Whitgift in 1596.
Josh
Josh Tikare (OW 2014-22)
My name is Joshua Tikare and I’m a recent U6th leaver. At the end of the summer I will be moving to California to study Chinese and more at Stanford University. I’m an England U18 Hockey Player and a keen singer/actor.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
I’m excited to be a part of Whitgift’s telephone campaign because I hope to connect with OWs and help contribute to uniting the community that we are all a part of. Whitgift is special to me because of the rich array of opportunities on offer, along with the great community. It is because of these reasons that this campaign is so important - so that those less fortunate can benefit from the opportunities all Whitgiftians have benefitted so greatly from.
Sean
Sean Louis (OW 2011-19)
I'm Sean and I'm currently a student at The Bartlett School of Architecture at UCL.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
After seeing first-hand the success of the first telephone campaign last year, I was eager to be involved again and help continue to help provide this support to more prospective students. Having personally benefitted from financial support during my time at Whitgift, this cause is one I'm very passionate about. This experience has also been a great opportunity to hear more about some of the fondest memories of the diverse Old Whitgiftian community, and how their time at school has often had a monumental impact on their lives and careers.
The opportunities at Whitgift are vast, and no one should be held back by their family's financial background. Hopefully the continuation of the campaign will ensure a wider scope of prospective students can become eligible, allowing them to prioritise their education and pursue careers they are passionate about.
Max
Max Hubrich (OW 2017-2022)
My name is Max and I am a recent Upper Sixth leaver.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
Whitgift is special because of the variety of opportunities available, and the inclusivity of the Whitgift community. There is an enthusiasm that permeates through the whole School, and I want to use this opportunity as a campaign caller to help open Whitgift to others who may not be able to afford the fees to share in the same opportunities Whitgift has afforded me.
Zach
Zach Steele-Gideon (OW 2012-20)
My name is Zach and I am going into my third year of reading Chinese at Oxford University (St. Anne's College) having recently returned to the UK following my year abroad in Taiwan.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
I signed up to take part in the campaign as I feel grateful for all the opportunities that Whitgift has given me, and I am really keen to give back to the community in whatever capacity I can. Moreover, I am particularly keen on the cause that the campaign is supporting as I, living in Croydon and coming from a single parent household, would not have been able to attend Whitgift without generous financial assistance from the school so I am keen to raise funds to help other deserving young boys go to such a great school.
I think what makes Whitgift stand out among schools is its sense of community and the diversity of that community, not just in terms of the school’s multiculturalism, but also in terms of the range of different talents that the boys at Whitgift display. Whether it’s academic, athletic prowess, musical ability or performing, Whitgift is talented in all areas.
People should give to the campaign as it offers a real opportunity to directly impact a young person’s life for the better. It enables the school to provide deserving young boys with a world-class education that can take them anywhere in the world. However, more than that it provides the foundation for shaping a young boy into the kind of well rounded, considerate, intelligent person that the world needs more of right now.
Tom
Tom Braddon (OW 2013-20)
My name is Tom and I've just finished my second year studying Psychology at the University of Warwick.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
Whitgift is special because of the diversity of opportunities it offers that almost no other school could from its language program to its sporting activities. People should give to the campaign in order to help fund bursaries and scholarships so more people can benefit from attending such an amazing school.
Amrith
Amrith Muhundan (OW 2012-20)
My name is Amrith and I am currently studying Graphic Communication Design at Central Saint Martins (UAL)
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
It is an opportunity to give back to the community that gave me so much, as a student and as a person. Apart from the teaching, facilities and experience, it is that community and fraternity that makes Whitgift special. Any donation will help fuel the next generation of Whitgiftians the same way the School did for us, not just helping us the academic grades but making us well-rounded individuals.
Theo
Theo Saitch (OW 2014-2021)
My name is Theo and I'm going into my second year studying History at the University of Oxford.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
I see this campaign not only as an intriguing opportunity to find out what various OWs have gone on to do after leaving but also as a chance to give back to a school which really helped me to achieve my academic and co-curricular goals.
It's range of opportunity really makes Whitgift stand out for me - it doesn’t pigeonhole you into solely engaging in academics or sports or music but rather allows you to forge your own path and decide what’s right for you.
It is a chance to give to a good cause and ensure talented prospective pupils, from disadvantaged backgrounds, are able to have the same great Whitgift experience that they did.
Oba
Oba Lala (OW 2014-2022)
My name is Oba and I am a recent Upper Sixth leaver about to start my first year studying aerospace engineering at the University of Nottingham.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
Whitgift School is special as it’s an institute that provides extraordinary opportunities to people from different walks of life, while also maintaining a sense of community between the pupils, teachers, and OW who go through the school.
People should give to this campaign as all donations will be invested into Whitgift, accelerating the process of the institute sculpting young boys into successful men who’ll be assets to society.
Suraj
Suraj Shah (OW 2014-22)
My name is Suraj and I am a recent Upper Sixth leaver.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
I signed up to take part in the telephone campaign because I really believe in the idea of giving back to places which have done a lot for you. Whitgift is special because of the sheer amount of opportunities it offers and the doors it opens. Students do not just get an excellent academic education but a well rounded one.
People should give to the campaign because it is a great opportunity for old Whitgiftians who have left the school to be able to give somebody less fortunate than themselves the same opportunity of studying at such a fantastic school.
Brad
Brad Cebreiro (OW 2014-2021)
My name is Brad and I have just finished my first year studying History and Ancient History at Exeter.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
The telephone campaign provides an opportunity to give back my time to the school while also gaining experience that will benefit me in the future. It also fits around my summer plans with a short term of 2 weeks rather committing to a job for the entirety of summer.
Whitgift is special due its community within the school but also their ability to keep the leavers of Whitgift connected into the system with opportunities that range from work experience to sports. The lessons that Whitgift taught me have also branched into my continuation at university and will continue to aid my social and work life.
Everyone that is considered for the campaign has had Whitgift benefit them in many ways, and if able to, the opportunity to give back and help the current students and the future of Whitgift would be a great way to invest in the community.
Jack
Jack Carter (OW 2015-20)
My name is Jack, I've just finished my first year studying English at Warwick.
Why are you taking part in the Telephone Campaign?
Whitgift is special to me because it allowed me to grow and flourish in a way that I will always be grateful for due to the incredible people working there. People should give to this campaign to allow Whitgift to further fund bursaries and scholarships to add to the myriad of talented people at Whitgift.
