Outdoor Education Games Options

The Outdoor Education programme in Games is designed to foster and develop interest in a wider range of activities and to take advantage of some of the benefits that these sports offer. Activities such as climbing and mountain biking are performed in different locations and as such, help to develop environmental connections and often become lifestyle sports that pupils continue with well after they leave school.

As part of the school’s track and road riding programme, a group of boys in the Third Form and above are taken each week to either Herne Hill Velodrome or Merton Saints BMX club to develop their biking skills. In the Sixth Form, mountain biking is added as a further option using locations in and around the Surrey Hills.

An ever-increasing number of students are now involved in climbing, where they are taken to a local indoor bouldering centre and spend their Games session practising and refining their climbing skills. These students also attend climbing trips away from school where their passion for the sport develops further in natural rock-climbing environments.
