A Brand New Course: Digital Champions

To celebrate the launch of our new course, let’s start with a challenge: One of the following five paragraphs was written by AI, can you spot which one?

Whitgift Summer School is incredibly excited to announce a new element to our programme, in the shape of “Digital Champions” a brand-new course designed by Whitgift’s Head of Digital Learning and delivered by experts in the three fields which the course covers. Here at Whitgift we're always contemplating how to modernise and, where possible, enhance our programme, and what better way than by coming up with something which is of relevance to every single student, teacher and parent in 2025. Due to its 3-subject focus, the course is 3 weeks long, with an exciting new topic covered each week.

First up, AI & Ethics: in which students will be covering what is increasingly the most highly discussed and debated issue in education. But at Whitgift we’re embracing progress and teaching our students to harness and use AI tools in an ethical way which works best for them and their future studies. Therefore, this week will involve experimentation with AI, all the while assessing its use, and giving students skills for revising and using AI to enhance their schoolwork, and potentially things outside of school!

Then students will be moving forward to looking at Design Technology with elements of Critical Thinking, allowing students to use some of the incredible facilities we have here at Whitgift to design and build something tangible, so save some space in your suitcase! The critical thinking part of the course will allow students to consider their use of technology both in and out of school while contemplating a future which will be shaped, more than ever, by these tools.

And the third week will be Computer Science, with elements of coding included. These are essential skills for any students planning on working in any technical field in the future, the classes will be engaging and intuitive, with them taking part in interactive challenges and creative tasks which will increase their digital literacy and prepare them for future challenges.

The future is being shaped by the very skills this course offers. For students and parents alike, the digital revolution isn’t something that can be ignored, it’s already here. So why not embrace it in the best possible way? Join us at one of the UK’s leading schools, where learning is hands-on, engaging, and fun. Connect with expert staff, collaborate with like-minded students, and make the most of our outstanding facilities as you prepare for the challenges, and opportunities, of tomorrow.
