My name is Ms Chan and I’m really excited to be teaching the introduction to IGCSE Science course to you over the summer.

I’m originally from South Africa and have taught in Port Elizabeth before moving to the UK in 2000, I am currently a Chemistry teacher at Whitgift School teaching IGCSE, A-Level and the IB courses. I have been at Whitgift for quite a while now, it is a fantastic school to work at and hopefully you will see what I mean when you arrive.

I enjoy teaching science and in particular Chemistry. It is a subject that can bring everyday aspects of living to life. I am a firm believer in practical work will enhance pupils’ knowledge and love for the subject further. I am excited about teaching students from all over the world and sharing my knowledge with you, hoping that you will want to study Chemistry, Physics or Biology in the Sixth form and beyond. At Whitgift School, we are currently working with UCL and Universities in Australia to try and find a cure for Mycetoma, I have included some photos of my pupils hard at work! It is a project designed for pupils to gain more scientific knowledge practical skills beyond the school syllabus.

I can’t wait to meet you all and see what you can do and help you to progress even further in your studies and hopefully give you a good start to your Science IGCSE’s.
