Meet the Team! Jordan Lee-Macdonald

Hello students and parents! I am delighted to be writing a blog post to you ahead of this year's summer school. I want to share my experiences of 2022, give you an insight of what I do at Whitgift, as well as share some of the great things you can expect with the activity team for 2023.

My background and passion is within Physical Education and sport. I have been coaching and teaching sport for 5 years now and I am currently completing my Post Graduate Certificate in Education (PGCE) and Masters degree at Loughborough University. As a top university for sport in the U.K., being on campus at Loughborough reminds me of the brilliant facilities and opportunities here at Whitgift. Students can enjoy a range of activities in superb facilities during their afternoons with me and the rest of the amazing activity team.

Students who attend Whitgift Summer School benefit from world class facilities.

As an activity leader I’ve enjoyed delivering a wide variety of sports in the afternoon and evening activities, as well as supervising the students on the great excursions and trips we go on. I loved working at Whitgift Summer School last year because no two days are the same. Every week there was a different trip to look forward to, whether it be a thrill-seeking adventure at Thorpe Park or a beautiful day sightseeing in historic Cambridge.

Students will visit London at least once during their stay at Whitgift.

In the evenings we host a wide range of activities for you to enjoy. Whether that be an evening in the gym, taking part in house competitions, Friday night discos, or chilled pamper nights, there is something for everyone.

The Friday night disco, one of the most popular nights of the week!

For me, the best things about Whitgift Summer School is that feeling of being a part of a vibrant international community, with students coming from around the world with a story to share. It was a brilliant to see so many friendships blossoming over the weeks, as students bond quickly over an unforgettable experience of living in London and meeting so many new people. When some students feel homesick, they know they have new and supportive people around them to help them through those patches which is a testament to the friendly, nurturing environment the house parent team creates.

Whitgift Summer School students know they have new a supportive people around them during their stay with us in London.

Without doubt, my favourite memory of 2022 was convincing many international students with the help from our student hosts that cricket was a sport for them. Witnessing so many international students enjoying playing the game that is well-loved here was fantastic. This year, I look forward to bringing cricket into the afternoon activities as a multi activity option. I hope to see you there ready to enjoy a memorable summer!
