Greetings! I'm Karine, thrilled to be part of the Whitgift team starting this summer, bringing my expertise as an English educator

Growing up and residing in multicultural communities have fuelled my passion for teaching foreign languages as I moved forward in life.

I consider myself fortunate to have transformed my genuine passion for language education into a lifelong career. I've had the privilege of teaching English to students of diverse age groups and nationalities starting my career as a school teacher of English and transitioning to a university. Engaging in research related to foreign language teaching has further enriched my experience, enabling me to analyse and refine my teaching techniques and approaches as well as to incorporate the latest findings. 

As a teacher, I consistently strive to transform the learning experience into an engaging and dynamic process, prioritising excitement and immersion over mere outcome-driven objectives. Teaching at a school like Whitgift enables me to implement my most ambitious teaching plans both in terms of efficiency and engagement.

I am also never tired of reminding students that apart from learning English per se, students develop a myriad of skills that prove invaluable in various facets of life. These skills extend beyond mere linguistic proficiency, encompassing critical thinking, analytical reasoning, effective communication, and intercultural competence. 

As a lifelong enthusiast of English, captivated by its nuances, understatements, inherent politeness and the plethora of peculiar idioms and diverse dialects, I hope to turn you into such enthusiasts as well, if you are not in love with English yet. 

I eagerly anticipate welcoming the students of our 2024 summer school program. My goal is to facilitate your transition from classroom learning to engaging in project work and collaboration. Ultimately, I am most looking forward to witnessing your growth as you confidently engage in real-life communication, whether in formal or informal settings.
