Meet the Team! Welfare Manager, Mr Robert Hancock!

Hi, I'm Robert Hancock, the Welfare Manager at Whitgift Summer School.

I've been working in the English as a Foreign Language (EFL) sector for over 10 years, in a variety of roles including Welfare Manager, Teacher, and House Parent, both in the UK and abroad. I still love the job as much as I did when I started!

Robert making the most of nature!

As a member of the Welfare team, I'm responsible for ensuring that you're happy and healthy during your time at Whitgift Summer School. This means that if you have any problems, comments, or suggestions, please don't hesitate to come to me. I'm always happy to help.

Summer School is a great opportunity for both students and staff to meet people from all over the world. I love the chance to meet new people, and to be part of a team that is working together to provide the best possible experience for students.

The health, happiness and well-being of students is our number 1 priority at Whitgift Summer School.

I've lived abroad myself, so I'm acutely aware of the challenges that foreign language speakers face. I once misunderstood and repeatedly rejected a shopping bag in a Latvian supermarket, and had to carry 12 items home in my arms... in -20 degree temperatures! Having had this type of experience enables me to really understand and empathize with students when they are perhaps going through a difficult moment in a foreign country.

I really love working in Summer Schools, and I'm sure that by working together, we can ensure that this will be another brilliant Summer.

Here are a few things you can expect from the Welfare team:

  • We're here to help you with anything you need, from medical problems to homesickness
  • We offer a range of support services and you can speak to me or any of the house parents whenever you need
  • We're committed to creating a safe and welcoming environment for all students

If you need anything at all, please don't hesitate to spkea to us when you are here at Whitgift!

We look forward to seeing you soon!
