Urawa and Whitgift partnership - Student testimonial

Receiving testimonials from our International Summer School students brings so much joy to our team. This month, we're delighted to present Hiroki, a student from our partner school near Tokyo, Urawa. Hiroki joined us in the summer of 2024 on the Intensive General English Course, and also enjoyed our incredible basketball academy. Hear from Hiroki below:

"I applied for Whitgift Summer School because I wanted to improve my English skills, especially English conversation skills. Also, I can interact with many students from different countries, so I thought it would be a great opportunity to learn about other cultures.

The classes were so interesting. I learned English grammar and British culture. The teachers and the classmates were all friendly and the classes included quizzes and games, so I didnʼt feel bored at all. In Progressive Skills in Action classes, we created something in a group of several students. Students at Whitgift School join and help us. We could cultivate friendship by cooperating with each other.
In addition to the classes, I enjoyed many activities. I could interact with many students of different ages in activities. This school has some large playgrounds and facilities, which allow students to enjoy activities that they like.

As a result, I could improve not only my English but also myself through this program. This was the first time I had been away from my parents for such a long time, and I was a little nervous at first. However, I forgot such feelings as soon as I arrived at Whitgift School because all the students and staff kindly treated me. So I didnʼt get homesick. I became better at solving my own problems and getting myself in good shape in unfamiliar surroundings.

My two-week life at Whitgift School was wonderful. If you take part in this program, it will remain in your memory throughout your life and will help you develop yourself. So I would like to recommend that you have a special experience at Whitgift Summer School."

For Summer 2025, we're excited to welcome more students from Urawa School, Japan, as well as students from all over the globe.
