In our latest blog post, we take a look at the wonderful story of Edgar who attended the 2023 Whitgift International Summer School on the Pre-IB program. At our 10th Anniversary event in March, Edgar delivered a moving speech telling our audience about his experience at the Summer School, and why he joined Whitgift School as an all-year-round student.
Hear from Edgar below:
"It’s great to be here celebrating 10 years of Whitgift Summer School. Just six months ago, I joined Whitgift as an IB Year 12 student, but my journey here actually started in the summer of 2023, when I attended the summer school.
At the time, I did the IB preparation program. I wasn’t sure what to expect. However, from the first day I knew there was something special. The teachers were inspiring, the lessons were exciting, the activities were entertaining and I met amazing people from all over the world. I would say it wasn’t just about studying it was about enhancing our academic capacities in a fun way.
But what really stuck with me was the ambiance. Everyone was welcoming, friendly, encouraging and enthusiastic about their work. By the end of the summer school, I found myself thinking: What if this wasn’t just for the summer? What if this was my school every day?
That thought led me here! And now, as a full-time boarder, I can honestly say it was an excellent decision! Same energy, same inspiring teachers and same environment. These make Whitgift special all year round!
The summer school didn’t just give me an unforgettable summer. It helped me find the right place for my future. So, to the teachers, staff, and everyone who makes it happen, thank you. You are changing futures, just like you changed mine and I’ll always be thankful for this experience.
